My Weekend in Rome, Italy

Our lovely weekend in Rome, Italy

Rome, Italy

So this weekend I ticked off one of my ‘bucket list’ locations. Rome, Italy! The history, the culture, the food and the country has captivated me and Rome did not disappoint. The 4 day break allowed us to see all of the wonderful landmarks and eat and drink the best food and wine.

My Top 5 Places & Things To Do In Rome

  1. Piazza Navona
  2. Colosseum
  3. Roman Forum/Palatine Hill
  4. Trevi Fountain (Piazza di Trevi)
  5. Spanish Steps (Piazza di Spagna)
Sam in Piazza Navona: beautiful market square. My favourite place in Rome.

Sam in Piazza Navona:, Rome’s beautiful market square. Easily my favourite place in Rome. It has an amazing atmosphere with beautiful fountains and great places to eat and drink and grab lots of gelato ice cream.

  1. Piazza Navona reminded me of Covent Garden for its hustle and bustle like atmosphere. We ate at different restaurants and bars around the market square and its great for getting a cappuccino mid morning or picking up a gelato ice cream. My favourite was the pizza and bottle of wine in the evenings.

2) The Colosseum is well worth the wait  and doesn’t disappoint , but if you get the opportunity to queue jump it is worth paying the extra money. I would strongly recommend a tour guide otherwise you could end up aimlessly walking through not knowing what you are looking at!

Colosseum

3. Roman Forum & Palatine Hill – was part of the Colosseum ticket deal that we purchased and again I would recommend visiting both these landmarks with a tour guide as they out it ‘you are just staring at a bunch of crumbling ruins’ !!!img_4397

4. Trevi Fountain, this was hugely popular and you couldn’t move for tourists, cameras, selfie sticks and tour guides crammed into was is a very small area. However we managed to locate a more quieter area around to the side of the fountain. I’m not sure my pictures do the fountain any justice, but I would strongly recommend a visit.

img_4389img_43945. Spanish Steps (Piazza di Spagna) this is another tourist landmark that I was advised not to bother visiting in advance of our trip to Rome however, it should be worth noting that for anyone who, like me, loves their shopping this landmark sits in the heart of the capitals best shops. from Gucci, Chanel, Longchamp, Tiffany, Hugo Boss and many many more this is a ideal day visit to see the shops and turn down small side streets for a coffee and sit down.

Things I Love…

Screen Shot 2015-02-21 at 20.19.25We all have bad days and sometimes simple things (that don’t cost anything at all can cheer us all up) in this post I thought I would share some of the things I love…

  • Flowers – they are beautiful, fascinating and will always cheer me up whether it is the colour or smell receiving or giving flowers always makes me happy. My absolute favourite has to be White Avalanche Roses.
  • Tea – I cannot start the day without a good old cup of Yorkshire tea! My tea taste all the better in my favourite stripey mug (below)IMG_0281
  • Walks in the Sunshine – lets face it when the sun is shining everyone is happier, but nothing beats a walk in the warm spring sunshine! Get outdoors people and enjoy the outdoors! Its free, its exercise and I guarantee you will feel fab!
  • Makeup – this is probably a given as my blog is all about makeup, beauty and fashion. But if I ever need a pick me up, I know that experimenting with makeup (in particular eyeshadows). I truly love makeup Im sure theres so many bloggers out there that agree with me on this one!
  • Desserts – I love eating out and I have to admit I have a major sweet tooth! I have a particular obsession with Prezzo’s vanilla cheesecake – its delicious !

  •  Shopping – whether it is buying clothes, makeup, handbags, shoes or homeware! I just love love love shopping! As silly as it sounds its probably the best therapy for me – albeit a pricey one!

The Face Off: My must have Face Primer

IMG_0226Ok so I have picked another fairly pricey product to review however I couldn’t resist blogging about my latest purchase! Once I had seen Victoria Beckham had raved about this product I was even more tempted to give it a try! So here is my own personal review on…

The This Works ‘in transit camera close up’ which is cleverly a  3 in 1 combined mask, moisturiser and primer in one handy 40ml bottle! Priced at £30 on www.lookfantastic.com its a definitely a ‘must try’ product or at least one to put on your wish list as a special treat. But be warned ladies you may become hooked on this primer like me!

Directions for use

Simply apply  to clean skin, including eye area and massage gently until all product is absorbed. your face and neck should feel slightly dewy and primed read for your makeup. This award winning product really does keep your makeup in place throughout even the longest of days at work.

IMG_0233My Verdict

A very respectable 9/10

I don’t claim to have tried all primers on the market but I have tried a few scaling from cheap to pricey this is definitely one of the higher end products on the market but baring in mind it does 3 different things in 1 bottle ….. well you can’t grumble at that!

Have you tried this product? I would love to hear your thoughts?

Happy Monday People

After being offered a new job this week, I promised to treat myself to a little something.. Now I know I’m a tad late on this, but I chose to purchase the incredibly popular Urban Decay Naked2 palette. I read a review that the Naked2 palette is suited for blue eyes and they were spot on! It contains plenty of golds, taupes, and shimmery greys all ideal for enhancing anyone with baby blues eyes!

SIMPLY THE BEST Concealer Ever: Benefit Boi-ing

IMG_0126Ok so saying that this is the best concealer is definitely a BOLD statement to make… (as I am the first one to admit that I haven’t tried EVERY concealer out there)! However I still stand by this little gem! It truly does exactly what it says on the box…. its industrial strength properties really do give you a great coverage and will cover any blemish with a natural but professional finish.  I tend to apply this under my eyes and around the nose and chin area. This makes for an excellent base to then apply your foundation for a flawless look. I have tried many other concealers in my time but this is trusty one I always go back to and although it may be a little more pricier compared to other products on the market it will last you a good while!

Boi-ing is priced at £17.50.   To buy your Boi-ing Concealer click here to visit Benefit’s UK website

Have you yourself tried this product, I would love to hear your thoughts & comments

Thanks for reading & happy concealing!

Beauty Storage Ideas

d003bd56c62e1f152cb78f21226e21df

I love creative ways of storing makeup – probably because I own far too much of the stuff….. So I love it when I find a clever creation to store my makeup brushes, eyeliner pencils/pens and lip-glosses. This ingenious idea is not only cheap to recreate but it is also is a more organised approach to storing such items. I love the fact that you can experiment with any shape, size or colour container/vase/pot and you can use all manner of glass beads, crystals, sand to stack any makeup item or brush – simple & effective!!

Benefit: The POREfessional

IMG_0103If you are anything like me by lunch time my makeup needs a little care & attention. So I was delighted when I was told that Benefit’s POREfessional doubles up as a pore-minimising balm and can help touch up any areas during the day! What a bonus! A little dab really does go a long way.

I use a small dot on my t-zone, chin and across my nose. As far as I am aware there is only one shade created by Benefit but it blends nicely into any liquid foundation or powder and can be worn alone if preferred.

Definitely a must have handbag essential!

Check it out on Benefit’s website

Benefit: Roller Lash Mascara

IMG_0101 IMG_0115

Benefit’s Roller Lash definitely has to be on the ‘bucket list’ of all mascara’s to try! It doesn’t clump and the brush is excellent at seperating your lashes to give a natural effect. This is the ideal ‘day time’ mascara and it really does last the duration of the day. If you want to create a dramatic ‘night out’ effect you can build these layers up and applying a second coat of Roller Lash for a more intense look.

After receiving my first GlossyBox in November I was more than looking forward to December’s box arriving on my doorstep and I wasn’t disappointed! Contained within December’s goody box was;

This full sized bottle claims to nourish and renew your scalp after first use with its tea tree extract and sunflower seed oil. To apply, tilt head and use the nozzle to lift hair in sections and aim to target the root of your hair. Comb treatment through and style as usual, there is no need to rinse!

2) Bellapierre Cosmetics – Cheek & Lip Stain (£12.99) www.bellapierre.co.uk

This clever 2 in 1 cheek & lip stain is every girls must have handbag hero! This versatile little pot can be used as a beautiful lip stain and at the same time can be blended along your cheekbone to create a rosy pink hue!

How to pick your perfect pout!

IMG_2278

Have you ever walked into Boots or Superdrug going in for one thing and walked back out with a bag full of items that you didn’t expect to buy and you are not really sure if any of the colours suit you…! Well this happens to me often. So I wanted to share this clever little colour palette guide that I found to help you (and your purse) from any expensive makeup shopping trips!

I tried this palette test out on three different friends… (all with different skin tones) the results were spot on and some friends were shocked to see how some of colours on the chart actually suited them!

I myself am a mixture between a fair + medium complexion therefore I can cheekily mix between the top 6 lip colours as shown on the chart. for the lighter shades I tend to buy my shiny lip glosses and for the darker shades I plump for the bold matt lipsticks or crayons as they are now known on the market.

Feel free to screenshot the chart and use when you are next out shopping it helped me loads when buying lipstick, lipgloss, lip glaze, lip balm, lip stain (I could go on but you know what I mean) there is so many products available that sometime buying a lip can be a bit overwhelming – I hope this helps you like it did me!

Thank you for reading
